چکیده
This study aimed to improve some surface properties such as color, gloss, and roughness changes of Oriental beech (Fagus orientalis L.) wood impregnated with water repellent chemicals glycerol (GR) glyoxal (GX) after weathering. specimens were a 4 % aqueous solution GR, GX, mixture GR GX (1:1; weight : weight) (GR+GX) then exposed weathering in Muğla Province Turkey. Results showed that [delta]L* values all decreased Moreover, the decreases control specimen higher than specimens. greenish yellowish tendency, giving -[delta]a* +[delta]b* values, respectively. Total color was lowest The gloss test gave value three parameters (Ra, Rz, Rq) Among specimens, groups had, general, highest degrees most negative results roughness.

The Efficiency of Mechanization in Weed Control in Artificial Regeneration of Oriental Beech (Fagus orientalis Lipsky.)
In this study which has been conducted in Akçasu Forest Range District of Devrek Forest Directorate; 3 methods (weed control with labourer power, cover removal with Hitachi F20 Excavator, and weed control with agricultural equipment mounted on a Ferguson 240S agriculture tractor) were utilized in weed control efforts in regeneration of degraded oriental beech forests have been compared. In this...
متن کاملPHYSICAL AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF PLYWOOD MANUFACTURED FROM TREATED RED-HEART BEECH (Fagus Orientalis L.) WOOD VENEERS
Effects of drying temperature and artificial UV irradiation on the pH of veneer surfaces, water absorption, thickness swelling, as well as shear strength of plywood manufactured from untreated and treated veneer sheets were evaluated. Rotary cut veneer sheets from beech (Fagus orientalis Lipsky) log were selected. The veneer sheets were dried at either 100C or 180C after peeling. Then the sur...

We studied 11 gaps covered with beech saplings (< 1.30 m tall) in a reserve compartment (compartment 139, district one, Langa forest, watershed 36: Kazemrood) of the Caspian beech forest in N Iran. Two transects, each 2 m wide, were laid along the longest (N-S) and shortest (E-W) axis of each gap. Five micro sample plots, each 4 m2, were established: one at the center, and one at each corner. متن کاملClassifying Oriental Beech (Fagus orientalis Lipsky.) Forest Sites Using Direct, Indirect and Remote Sensing Methods: A Case Study from Turkey
Determining the productivity of forest sites through various classification techniques is important for making appropriate forest management decisions. Forest sites were classified using direct and indirect (site index) and remote sensing (Landsat 7 ETM and Quickbird satellite image) methods. In the direct method, forest site classifications were assigned according to edafic (soil properties), ...

Microwave and conventional acetylation of wood was carried out to determine its efficacy on the material properties. Beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) and poplar (Populus hybrids) samples with dimensions 14 mm × 14 mm × 14 mm were impregnated using acetic anhydride, and chemical reactions were initiated by microwave and conventional heating. The microwave acetylation process was carried out using labo...
